People from Bahrain and Emirates had recently started movements against the way "government" has been ruling. For this they started to get their voices heard by the social networks. This has let the world to be updated of what's going on over Bahrain and U.A.E. Many people has been imprisoned for this, but the Bahranis and Emiratis keep with the movement, even harder and more determinated. This is what both of the pictures are trying to demonstrate. The two main similarties discussed are the use of the Rule of Thirds, and relation to the main topic (United Arab Emirates Step Up Effort to Counter Dissent).

First, they both use the Rule of Thirds. As I mentioned on Blog #2, when we "break-up" Picture 1 into thirds, we can see that in the four main intersections we can find an object (a flag, door, arm)  that help us figuring out what happened on that moment, or what the new was about. The same thing occurs on Picture 2, on the left corner we can found Bahrain's flag; on the opposite there are some sunrays, which can have a meaning of hope; down in the right, there are many hands in the air, like if they were trying to reach something; finally we can notice many people with smaller flags, with their hand in the air as well, trying to get heard as a one big voice. Both images are similar in many aspects, however the first one focuses principally on the center and in the man; unlike photo #2, which has its focus point on the top with the tower, and illustrates all the people around it.

Another thing they share is that both talk about the same topic: revolution. Picture 1 shows the release of Ahmed Mansoor, a human rights activist and blogger, who was arrested under the charges of "threatening state security and insulting Emirate's leaders".  Picture two talks about a protest that took place in Bahrain, after police killed 3 people. During this jeer Bahranis asked for a more democratic government. What particularly relates these two pictures, other than revolution, is the fact that U.A.E. and Bahrain regimes are taking the same actions against protesters. The reason why I chose these two pictures was to see how both Emiratis and Bahranis are taking action against the goverment's actions and injustice.

In conclusion, the two main similarities is the correct use of the Rule of Thirds, and how they both talk about the revolution against government in the Arabian Peninsula. As we can see people are getting tired of not being treated as equals, and they're demonstrating it by any medium they can, including photography. Therefore the international community should be sensitized by this conflicts, and try to stop in any way they can the Bahrain and Emirates regime. (470 words)
