Blog 5: Irak

Power has changed side in Irak

Concerning the changes of power in Irak, I can talk about the fact that they have tried to create the first new democracy in this part of the Arabic world.
When the American soldiers have decided to leave Irak, the all world believed that the democracy could be possible. But despite of this, terrorist attacks continued against the local police. These attempts are signed by Al-Qaida and by religious tribes. They were trying to create again a civil war and to mayhem the country. Irakian people said that this was has cost a lot in term of humans lives and infrastructures. But they also thanks USA for permitting them access to freedom by killing Saddam Hussein and by destroying all his troops. What has changes is the way to govern. There is actually a new government, which is making good stuff for the country. There is also a parliament, which is a novelty for the country. They can promulgate laws, they are discussing and they are trying to find solutions. Because five years ago, these types of problems were solved with weapons by killing the person that does no agree with the dictatorship. One of the thing that shows that power has changed and that the way to access to power has changed is that now, the results of the elections are not unveiled before the election itself. Another thing is the way to control the country. Since the Saddam Hussein’s army has been dissolved, there is a new national police with old army members that is making the country and the streets safe.
To conclude to this essay, after being under a dictatorship during many decades and after the intervention of the international forces (USA, UK, France…), Irak can now believe in a new way of living for its people. It is a sort of revolution that has also generated manifestations against strong powers in other Arabic countries (Arab spring in Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt…). The Arabic people are strong and they can now write a new page of their history.
