New Zealand a country without cigarettes

.....This essay deal with how government use power to influence people. I have chosen to talk about New Zealand is to become the first country without smoke in the world by 2025. New Zealand's government wants a smoke free country. In the first part, I will talk about what are the power capabilities that politics used. In the second part, I will talk about which capabilities were successful and of course why.

.....The government uses taxes as a capability to influence people to stop smoking. In this article, it is written that a package of 20 cigarettes, which costs approximately 15 NZD today, should increase in more than $20 NZD before 2016. The government declared that the taxes of the tobacco would increase by 10 % a year during the next four years (40% for the next four years).
They also use the capability to create places without cigarettes as bars without cigarettes, parks but also campus. To influence people politics ban cigarrete in different places.

.....For me, the best capability is the creation of a new tax. In order to oblige people to stop smoking, the government increases the taxes. The price of the cigarettes are so going to increase that less fortunate people will be obliged to stop smoking. Furthermore, if the taxes on the cigarette are going to increase the country will earn some money to reinvest in the other sector. The only negative point is the appearance of the black market. At the moment, there is not a lot of black market; however it would not be surprising me that this market increases during the next four years. I think that the fact of creating places without smoking is not a smart thing. It is not influences people, more there are of ban less people respect them. In France it is the same thing, it is forbidden to smoke in places public as bars; however it does not prevent people from going to smoke outside.
