Changes of power

In this blog I am going to talk about changes of power that happened a long time ago in Ivory Coast. These transitions are the change of the government, sometimes this change is very simple but in countries that are underdeveloped, this change means a lot and sometimes can cause severe problems.

The change of power that occurred on Ivory Coast, was changing from a country governed by France to an independent country. This was vital to the history of this country. This conversion happened on August 7 of 1960, this was achieved after several years of war (almost 20 years), but after all these years they finally achieved what they’ve all been waiting for: the independence. But this transition not only meant war it also meant a lot of effort to make the changes correctly, because a country that has recently been part of a war is very hard to stabilize. What people in this country did was impressive, and after all these years the country hasn’t become totally stabilized, they are still fighting day after day to achieve the stability that they are looking for.

In 2011, one year after the elections of 2010 this country faced a sever crisis, the crisis was that many people was angry with the current president so they start some manifestations and after months of unsuccessful negotiations and sporadic violence, the crisis entered a critical stage, causing a civil war, after the UN forces entered this country they could finally stop this war, causing a new change of power.

In conclusion I can say that Ivory Coast is an example of what a country should be, because after facing all of these wars and power changes, they could get ahead of all of this problems and now they’re a relatively stable country. I think that many countries should use Ivory Coast as an example of a country that could carry on, no matter the problems ahead.
